The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has given approval to Start Innovation Hub (SIH) as a skill training centre (STC).
Start Innovation Hub was given the approval after a verification visit to the company headquarters and academy in Uyo to ascertain its qualification to train students, and is one of the 16 privately owned NBTE training centers in Akwa Ibom state
With the approval, graduate trainees from SIH will receive certificates from the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), recognised by Computer Professional, the Computer Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).
Executive Secretary, NBTE, Prof. Idris Muhammad Bugaje said in the approval letter signed by the Director, Vocational, Technical and Skills Development, Engr. S. M. Yusuf, and addressed to the Chief Executive, Start Innovation Hub, that a sectoral awarding body will be responsible for the assessment of the trainees, while NABTEB will issue certificates.
“I am directed to inform you that the Executive Secretary has approved the Centre to operate as a Skill Training Center (STC) for the following trades: The following programmes have been approved: 1. Computer Hardware Repair & Maintenance 2. Social Media8 Communications.
“Based on the new arrangement, the Sectoral Awarding Body will be responsible for the assessment of the trainees while the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) will issue certificates based on the recommendation of the Sectoral Awarding Body.
“Both the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and Sectoral Awarding Body will be communicated accordingly. Please accept my congratulations on behalf of the Executive Secretary,” Yusuf stated.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Nigeria is responsible for regulating and coordinating technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions.
